Hey, it’s Tony from LearnAutoBodyAndPaint. Thank you for watching the video and checking out the blog. The topic we have for today is Getting Started With Auto Body & Paint Work Mazda Miata.
This is the car that I got off of eBay. The Miata Project is underway. I just degreased the engine, then use a brush to wash off the engine and clean it up.
I decided to buy this and give it a nice paint job. There are dents all over, but not huge dents. There are a couple of them in the quarter panel.
It’s going to be a complete paint job. We’ll document everything for the LearnAutoBodyAndPaint VIP members and upload the entire process within the members area. I’ll also be uploading some of this on YouTube for our subscribers.
I’m not going crazy on the color. I want to keep it as original as possible. I’ll probably get a quart to a quart and a half of base which will make me probably three quarters of a gallon.
It’s more than enough for the car because I’ll be painting it with the same color, so it already has its base.
The first thing that you want to inspect in a car, is to see if it was in an accident, so check all of the body lines.
Check out the video as I show you how I took off the lights. The plastic part around the lights is kind of weathered. We could sand and buff these out quick, because I think this is all it needs.
If you have the budget, you can invest in new lights. I don’t want to do that in this project though, because it’s really not that bad.
I’m just going to mask it off and retouch it up with black paint, so it’s going to look nice when we put it back in.
The more body parts you take off, the less overspray you’re going to have and the nicer paint jobs you’ll get. It all depends on how you want to do it. You can mask it or remove the parts. Take a look at the video as I unscrew and take off some of the parts.
I took out the lights, the side mirrors, the windshield washer clips, the plastic pieces that goes around the lights.
